An advert on the fitment centre group’s official website introduces a quicker and more convenient way for the public to renew their car licence discs by simply using Disky, an automated messaging service via WhatsApp.
‘There’s no need to stand in long queues to renew your car licence disc. Supa Quick have got you covered. Now you can renew your vehicle licence disc using WhatsApp and Disky!’ the advert reads.
You can renew your licence disc at any of the 190 Supa Quick stores across the country or from home by referring to their website, scanning the Disky QR code and pressing ‘send’.
You will then receive a WhatsApp message, and by following the user-friendly prompts, you can make payment and collect your licence disc within five to ten working days at your nearest Supa Quick store.
The renewal process:
- Scan the QR code on the website through your camera application or WhatsApp directly
- Press ‘send’ in the WhatsApp chat
- Select ‘Quote’
- Complete your details through the prompts
- Accept the quote
- Select your closest Supa Quick for collection and you are done!
All types of vehicle licences can be renewed, including those for motorcycles, cars, trailers and caravans. The process takes only a few minutes and a service fee will be charged.
According to IOL, the administration fee is R169 and is cheaper than most other non-traffic department options:
- Pick n Pay: R349 (R99 delivery fee and R250 admin cost)
- Easyrenew: R259 (R8.50 per debit reduction and R188 per vehicle and annual EFT of R250 per vehicle)
- Renewonline: R210 (R115 delivery and R95 admin fee)
- NaTIS: R171 (R99 delivery fee and R72 service fee)
- SA Post Office: R147 (R75 delivery fee for online renewals and a R72 Road Traffic Management Agency fee included in all renewals, irrespective of the method)
