A light aircraft made an “emergency landing” on the R44 close to Winery Road in the Stellenbosch Winelands today, reports Stellenbosch Municipality.
According to ER24, two men were injured after their light aircraft crashed. “ER24, Western Cape Fire and Metro Rescue arrived to find the wrecked aircraft in the middle of the busy road. Two men were seen seated near the aircraft,” the statement reads.
Medics assessed the men and found that one had sustained serious injuries while the other had escaped with minor injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. ER24 reported: “The patients were treated and provided with pain-relief medication before being transported to Mediclinic Stellenbosch for urgent care.”
This incident’s details are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations. Traffic will be diverted at the Annandale intersection, as per the Stellenbosch Municipality.
