Eskom has swiftly moved from Stage 1 load shedding on Monday, to Stage 2 on Tuesday. There also seems to be no relief from load shedding for the rest of the week, according to a statement released this afternoon by the power utility.

Eskom blamed the ageing fleet which is “currently constrained, unpredictable and vulnerable”.

The statement said Eskom will continue with Stage 1 until 5am on Tuesday, March 10. After which it will be kicked up a notch to Stage 2 which will likely be implemented for the rest of the week.

“There have been further delays on some generation units that were expected to return to service today. They will now only return during the course of the week,” Eskom said.
