Two large power transformers in Tokai have been negatively affected by the ongoing loadshedding.
Carolynne Franklin, councillor for Ward 71, says the problem has caused outages in most of the Dreyersdal area, as well as part of the retail areas in Main Road. ‘The City electricians are working on the issue but loadshedding means they have to step away during that zonal outage,’ says Franklin. ‘There is no timeline for repair but this is being treated as a priority.’
Councillor Beverley van Reenen confirmed that a transformer burnt, and City teams are assessing the situation.
