Eskom has announced that stage 5 loadshedding will be implemented from Friday afternoon until 5am on Saturday. Following that, various stages of loadshedding will be implemented.

According to the power utility, breakdowns currently account for 17 392 MW of capacity, while another 2 940 MW is out of service for maintenance.
A generating unit at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Kriel has been restored to service, but a unit at Camden and two units at Arnot have failed in the last 24 hours.

The return to service of units in Arnot, Camden, Hendrina, Kendal, Matimba, Matla and Tutuka has also been delayed.
Here is the current loadshedding schedule for this weekend:
Friday:
- Stage 4: 5am to 4pm
- Stage 5: 4pm to 5am
Saturday:
- Stage 3: 5am to 4pm
- Stage 5: 4pm to 5am
Sunday:
- Stage 2: 5am to 4pm
- Stage 4: 4pm until further notice
