The Hope Exchange is celebrating the completion of its 10th annual #Feed5000 campaign, which ran from 16 December 2024 to 12 January 2025, in collaboration with Ladles of Love.
This year, the organisation continued it’s decade-long tradition of providing nutritious meals to Cape Town’s most vulnerable residents during the holiday season, a time when many food services are temporarily closed and the need is greatest.
#Feed5000 has been a beacon of hope for Cape Town’s homeless community.
This festive season, The Hope Exchange provided meals to an average of 350 individuals experiencing homelessness daily, peaking at an incredible 782 meals served on Christmas Day.

This remarkable achievement was made possible through generous donations from food suppliers, patrons and financial supporters.
Just R250 can sponsor a person to receive a healthy meal every day during the holidays.
Each day, up to 20 dedicated volunteers contributed countless hours to food preparation and serving, turning this vision into a reality.
Founded in 1981, The Hope Exchange is a non-profit organisation committed to empowering homeless individuals in Cape Town to achieve self-sufficiency.
Their mission is to help homeless individuals overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
Beyond the #Feed5000 campaign, The Hope Exchange remains committed to empowering homeless individuals year-round.

‘This year’s #Feed5000 has reinforced the urgent need to address hunger and food insecurity in our homeless community,’ says Peter Solomon, Director of The Hope Exchange.
‘Together, with partnerships across various sectors of society, we can tackle this tragic dilemma.’
‘I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our donors, partners, and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly and heroically in service to the most vulnerable among us.’
This milestone marks a decade of dedication to combating hunger and supporting the homeless population during the holidays.
Starting with the goal of providing 5000 meals, the organisation is proud to have exceeded 14 000 meals this season.
If you would like to support their mission, the organisation invites you to make a donation.
