Update, 20 August:
Cape Town Traffic Services have urged fellow Capetonians to provide any relevant information on the stoning incident that occurred on Sunday morning.
A group of four boys were recorded throwing stones at motorists along the N1.
Maxine Bezuidenhout, the spokesperson for Cape Town Traffic Services, stated that they had been made aware of the incident but upon arriving at the scene, the boys had already disappeared.
‘Nothing was found on arrival and officers were unable to locate the perpetrators,’ she said.
She further stated that the cameras located along the N1 were too far away from the site to identify any of the boys.
The boys, however, were allegedly seen running away in the direction of Kensington.
According to IOL, incidents of this nature rarely occur on the N1 and are much more likely to happen on the N2 and the R300.
JP Smith, Mayco member for safety and security, commented that given the speed of the cars passing and the speed at which the stones are thrown, a major car accident could have easily occurred.
‘It is callously evil to endanger road users,’ he concluded.
Yesterday, a Facebook user warned members of the public of four boys throwing stones at moving vehicles in the area surrounding Canal Walk, reports Cape {town} Etc.

‘They’re aiming and throwing cars left right and centre’ claimed the man, whose front windshield had also been damaged by the four boys.
‘This happened to us last week. Same spot. 10 of them or so at about 7pm Sunday night’ commented another Facebook user.
