The Antipolis shipwreck, previously located on the rocks off Victoria Road near Oudekraal, has washed ashore. The ship was a large, 25 000 ton Greek oil tanker that wrecked in July 1977. For years, the vessel had been a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike.
The Antipolis was tightly wedged between rocks while being towed and simply would not budge. The ship was then used as a party venue until its structure was removed and sold as scrap. Until now, it rested in her past glory near Oudekraal, serving as a fine diving site.

Today, the historic vessel adds another chapter to its history: The Antipolis has washed ashore at the 12 Apostles, Camps Bay.
The City said that the increased wave and wind activity, after a full moon on Wednesday, resulted in the 44-year-old wreck washing up. One ship, two wrecks!
