On Sunday, 5 January, members of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit arrested a suspect who was involved in the Lusikisiki mass shooting, Cape {town} Etc reports.
‘As the Eastern Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, stated, the police would not recline until the outstanding suspect was arrested,’ said Mawisa.
‘Upon searching the bus, they found the 20-year-old male who was the only outstanding suspect in the Lusikisiki mass shooting. He was immediately arrested and will be charged accordingly,’ Mawisa added.
The suspect is due to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court soon, according to the Mthatha Express via News24.
Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, welcomed the arrest of the suspect, thanking the public for ‘sharing valuable information’ that led to the arrest of all the mass shooting suspects.
‘I have commended the team and applauded them for tirelessly ensuring that those responsible for the Lusikisiki mass shooting are facing the full might of the law,’ said Mene.
The mass shooting occurred in September last year, in which 18 family members were killed.
Seven other suspects have already been arrested in connection with the mass shooting and they are all facing 18 charges of murder, as well as the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, as reported by News24.
