An elderly man is in hospital after being resuscitated in Rondebosch on last night. According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, the man mysteriously collapsed while playing football at a university in the area.

“A 66-year-old man was resuscitated last night after he collapsed while playing soccer at a university in Rondebosch, Western Cape,” Meiring said. “ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene at 10.10pm and were led to the soccer field by the security services.”

When paramedics arrived at the scene, the man’s body was discovered on the soccer field. A number of bystanders were surrounding him and performing CPR on his body.

Paramedics stepped in and provided him with advanced life support interventions before transporting him to hospital.

“ER24 paramedics immediately took over. After some time, the man’s vital signs returned, and he was thereafter transported to Groote Schuur Provincial Hospital for further care,” Meiring said.
