A man has died as a result of the injuries he sustained when he fell from Table Mountain on Monday, October 5. According to Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR), the 43-year-old man’s body had to be extracted after he fell.

The man is believed to have been a Cape Town local.

Speaking to News24, Jaco Marais, WSAR spokesperson, said that the man fell in the vicinity of the Platteklip Buttress. This is located on the east of Union Ravine, on the city side of Table Mountain.

“WSAR operatives are on scene to assist with packaging the patient and placing the person on a stretcher to be hoisted out,” he said at the time. “We mourn the loss of another life.”
