A man has been left hospitalised and in critical condition after being dragged under a train at Salt River Station on Monday morning. The victim, believed to be in his 30s, sustained a serious head injury and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Speaking to IOL, ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said: “A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured this morning when he was pulled beneath a train at the Salt River Train Station in Salt River in the Western Cape,” he said. “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find Life Healthcare, Metro Rescue and Provincial EMS already in attendance.”

Paramedics found the man lying on the side of the train tracks. “The man was treated for his injuries and was provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent treatment,” Meiring said.

Local authorities were on the scene, and are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
