Delft police registered an attempted murder case after a man was shot on 27 November 2025 at about 11:20 at the footbridge on the R300 near Silversand, police told Cape {town} Etc.
Police said the man was walking home towards Wesbank when an unidentified man walked past and began shooting at him at random. The suspect ran off towards Delft and police are investigating the motive.
‘Delft police registered an attempted murder case following a shooting incident on 2025-11-28 at 11:20 at the Footbridge R300, Silversand, Delft,’ the statement said.
‘A 49 year old male was shot and injured. He was taken to a medical facility for treatment by ambulance.’
Eyewitness accounts allege that the man was shot 6 times.

The statement added that no arrests have been made.
Community safety leaders urged anyone with information to come forward to help detectives. Police asked members of the public to report tips anonymously through Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS mobile app.

The investigation continues and officers appealed for witnesses to contact Crime Stop.
