A video showing a customer at a Garden Route mall tackling a security guard has gone viral since the incident took place yesterday [June 11].
In the video, the security guard can be seen tugging at the arm of a woman who reportedly entered the Garden Route Mall without wearing a mask. Under lockdown regulations, all mall patrons are required to wear a mask when shopping.
The tug of war can be seen continuing between the two, with the woman’s partner attempting to intervene, until a man comes out of nowhere and tackles the security guard down.
There are reports that the security guard has been fired, but management of the Garden Route Mall have denied this. According to IOL, the mall has said that the guard and the security company he is employed by have laid a charge against the man who tackled him.
The incident is under investigation by police.
