Western Cape police have launched an investigation after a 49-year-old woman, three teenagers and two children were shot and wounded in Eerste River on Monday, 23 September, reports Cape {town} Etc.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Kleinvlei police responded to a complaint of a shooting at a recreational park in Spandau Road, Spandau Village.
‘Upon arrival on the scene, [first responders] found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies,’ said Twigg.
Two of the three teenagers were 17 years old and the other was 19 years old. The two children were five and six years old.
‘The victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment where the 49-year-old victim was declared deceased due to injuries sustained,’ added Twigg,
Twigg also confirmed that the five-year-old victim passed away in hospital on Monday evening.
While the motive for the attack is yet to be determined, detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the mass shooting and searching for the gunman, who fled the scene.
