It’s been a busy week for Meghan Markle as she continues to ruffle feathers and unite South African tweeps with the hashtag #VoetsekMeghan.
However, it appears that she’s not done speaking her truth just yet as a new bombshell interview with The Cut attempts to shed a light on the growing rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
The nearly 6400-world article finds Meghan taking a few jabs at the royals, with the dutchess stating that she could not say anything once she left her duties as a senior royal.
The interview even alludes to the fact that Prince Harry had “lost” his father due to his decision to leave the Firm.
Speaking to The Cut, Meghan said: ‘Harry said to me, “I lost my dad in this process.” It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”
However, the former actress later backtracked and offered some clarification on her statement, indicating that she was referring to the breakdown of her own relationship with her father and reiterated that she did not want Harry to lose his own father.
According to the Daily Mail, a source close to the royal family stated that Prince Charles would be heartbroken if Harry felt that their relationship was beyond repair, adding that he loved both his sons.
Other bombshells within the interview included Meghan’s claim that the couple was forced to leave Britain because by “just existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy.”
She also went on to state that a South African member of the cast of the West End production of The Lion King told her: “When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.”
This is not the first time Meghan has dragged South Africans into her interviews.
Last week she released the first episode of her Spotify podcast series titled: Archetypes. During the episode, which featured tennis legend, Serena Williams, the mom-of-two described an incident in which a fire broke out in her then four-month-old son’s nursery during the first day of her royal tour in South Africa.
A vast number of news outlets have reported that Meghan allegedly twisted and exaggerated some of her facts, with many claiming that the heater was smoking and that it was already unplugged.
South Africans were not having any of it and the hashtag #VoetsekMeghan was born.
While South Africans appear to be going for the jugular, members of the Royal Family are reportedly fearful that the Sussexes may be planning to increase their media appearances in anticipation of Harry’s highly awaited memoir.
