The driver of a Merecedes-Benz ended up in a heated situation on Sunday, November 1 after their vehicle caught alight on Long Street in Cape Town.

In a video posted to Twitter, the driver of the car can be heard repeatedly revving the engine while stationary in Long Street. After a while, smoke and flames emerge from beneath the car.

“Kindly be advised that Cape Town Central police are aware of the incident of the vehicle catching fire in Long Street on Sunday evening. No case docket has been registered in [relation] to the matter and it is not under investigation,” confirmed Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut.
