Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, has officially set off for Mexico on Sunday to compete in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant on 16 November.
Le Roux will make history as the first-ever deaf contestant to represent South Africa at the pageant, with Le Roux on a mission to showcase the country’s diversity as well as to promote inclusivity on the global stage.

The Instagram accounts of Miss South Africa and Le Roux treated fans to some stunning photos on the platform of the 28-year-old dressed in an elegant red ensemble by designer Juan William Aria.
The photos showcased her send-off and were accompanied by a caption that read:
‘South Africa…I carry you with me! Excited for the journey of a lifetime to begin! Are you ready?’

Mia recently revealed her official advocacy campaign, Mia’s Movement, which was launched through Miss Universe’s Voice for Change initiative.
Her campaign focuses on social issues, advocating for gender equality and inspiring communities to support projects that emphasise inclusivity.
Her mission? To collaborate with government bodies, corporations and NGOs to fund cochlear implants and lead inclusive projects that empower the deaf community.
The Miss Universe journey, however, isn’t all glamour. Here is what her jam-packed itinerary consists of:

- 12 November: Crown unveiling cocktail party
