The 73rd Miss Universe pageant is currently in full swing in Mexico, where South Africa’s own Miss Universe contestant, Mia le Roux, is flying Mzansi’s flag high.
Miss Universe 2024 currently features 130 women from across the globe vying for the crown as they work through multiple events.
These events include personal statements, in-depth interviews, and evening gown and swimwear competitions for an opportunity to snag the crown. The pageant will culminate on 16 November, when the 73rd Miss Universe is crowned.

Currently, the international contestants have wrapped up their Gala de las Catrinas and are midway through the pageant’s excursion tour, which concludes today.
On 12 November, the dazzling Miss Universe crown will be revealed at the Crown Cocktail Party, while on 14 November, preliminaries and the National Costume Show will commence.
Before the grand finale on 16 November, the Miss Universe contestants will gather for a Farewell Afternoon Tea with reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua.
How to vote:
The 73rd Miss Universe pageant has encouraged the public to participate in voting for their favourite candidate into the Semifinals, with voting for the Finals, Best Costume competition and others still to come.
Currently, the pageant has opened votes for the year’s Semifinalists. Votes are made via Choicely and start at a minimum of $1 for three votes.

According the Miss Universe organisation, voting is open worldwide, to anyone 14 or older.
