Authorities are still searching for Colete Olivier, a 48-year-old woman who has been missing since the morning of Friday, February 19.

Her daughter Bianca Gouws posted into the Hiking Cape Town Facebook group on Sunday evening [February 21], saying that her mother was spotted on a few hiking trails on Table Mountain over the course of the weekend.

“She was last seen at around 6pm on Saturday, February 20 at India Venster,” Gouws said. “The rangers looked on Sunday – but due to poor visibility, no luck. She is not a danger, but she is in a psychotic episode where she believes she is meeting people on the mountain. She is wearing a black shirt, black ski pants, brown shoes and she has a navy/black backpack.”

Olivier was wearing a red Vodacom-branded hat at the time of her disappearance, but recent reports indicate that she is no longer wearing it.

“Her hair is blonde, bob and half up (as reported), she has blue/green eyes. She is about 1.67m tall and weighs +/- 50kg. Any information would be helpful. Thank you so much,” Gouws said.

Last week, Gouws asked that anyone who encounters her mother report the sighting to police or take her to the nearest hospital – Helderberg Hospital if possible.

Gouws can be contacted on 063 685 2025, or alternatively, a person named Carla can also be contacted on 066 268 8176.
