The Moti family have issued a statement on Sunday, 16 January indicating that they have not halted the police from continuing their investigation into the alleged kidnapping of their four sons in October 2021.
The boys – Zidan, Zayyad, Alaan, and Zia – were released on Thursday, 11 November, after they endured a three-week kidnapping and hostage ordeal and were dropped off in a nearby road in Limpopo.
In recent developments that have surfaced, SAPS revealed to eNCA that the investigation has been stalled because the father has interdicted the police from speaking to the children.
Several reports also suggested that the family has also relocated to Dubai, while sources say the family argued that the children’s traumatised state would get worse if they are questioned.

However, following these accusations, the family have come forward and released a statement where they confirmed that they have indeed moved to Dubai as their sons have been living in fear.
“Our boys came home to us but have not yet been able to live freely and without fear. We have been forced to make some difficult decisions to ensure their safety and well-being, despite the recent and sudden backlash.
“For now, we have relocated in order to create a safe environment for our boys to heal from the trauma caused by their terrifying ordeal, which many have failed to grasp the gravity and seriousness of,” the statement said.

The statement further mentioned that the media reports about an interdict are a complete falsehood, as the truth can be confirmed with Major General Manala from SAPS.
“Our sudden departure was beyond our control and a reluctant one at that as any parent would understand, the safety of our children comes first.
“Please understand that our boys need time to heal from what happened to them one morning on their way to school. We appeal to you all for privacy and your continued understanding so that these innocent young boys can go back to living a normal life,” the statement explained.
Meanwhile, during an interview, Police Minister Bheki Cele said he is aware of the latest developments surrounding the Moti kidnapping investigation.
“We regard it as non-cooperation at the moment, rather than obstruction of justice. Perhaps the time will come where we will draw the line and say this is just non-cooperation. But they are hindering the working of justice,” Cele expressed.
