On 20 March the Western Cape Premier Alan Winde moved to reassure residents, saying there is no need for concern about fuel availability in the province. He said current reserves remain stable and sufficient to meet demand, despite rising anxiety linked to global oil pressures.
Today 23 March Winde released a video clip reiterating ‘there is currently enough fuel in the Western Cape.’ Watch clip below:
‘There is no cause for concern. There is more than enough fuel in reserve,’ Winde said, while urging suppliers to release stock and motorists to avoid panic buying.
For Cape Town drivers, the capped fill-up has become a sharp snapshot of how global energy tension is landing at the pump. The message from officials remains simple: keep normal buying habits and avoid adding unnecessary strain to supply chains.
