As conferred by Hiking Cape Town, muggings have been reported on the Coastal Dune Trail of Blaauwberg Nature Reserve, roughly 30km from Cape Town.
The muggings have taken place over the last two weekends and the area is currently being presented as high-risk.
If you wish to walk this trail, Hiking Cape Town expresses that you should “please report at Eerste Steen offices” that you will be going on this trail. People are also advised to:
- Walk in big groups
- Not carry cameras
- cellphones
- cash
- valuable items
Additionally, if confronted by a criminal, they note that you should not resist.
