Muizenberg police have launched an inquest following the discovery of a decomposed body at Sonwabi Beach, located along the Baden Powell Drive, on Saturday morning, 16 November 2024, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The body, which appeared to have washed ashore, has not yet been identified, and authorities are working to determine the cause of death.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the body was discovered by members of the public who alerted local authorities. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, police are unable to confirm any details about the individual’s identity or the circumstances surrounding the death at this stage.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death, and investigators are exploring all possibilities. Muizenberg police have urged anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the deceased to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
At this time, no foul play is suspected, but the investigation remains open. SAPS has confirmed that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
