David Leadbetter died in hospital on Thursday, 24 November, following a three-car collision in Bath, England. Although the guitarist was born in the UK, he spent most of his life in South Africa, where his musical talents were held in high regard.

According to Bath Eco, the police arrived at the scene on Claverton Down Road at approximately 7.24pm. Leadbetter was then transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The 64-year-old is remembered by his wife, who paid the following tribute to her late husband:
“We are truly stunned and saddened by the untimely death of UK-born David James Leadbetter as a result of the devastating collision on Thursday. He was our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and one of South Africa’s finest musicians,” wrote Leadbetter’s wife, Michelle.
In her tribute, Michelle described David as being a humorous, spiritual, compassionate, vibrant, talented and knowledgeable individual.
