Cape Town singer, Craig Lucas, has been left heartbroken and shared a series of tweets expressing disbelief as he processes the painful death of his brother and sister in-law, who were murdered less than two weeks ago in their Brackenfell home.
Warren and Arlene Lucas, who were both 37 years old, were fatally shot and killed, and a 15-year-old teenager was arrested in connection with the shooting. The teen, who is alleged to have a mental illness, was sent for psychiatric evaluation at Karl Bremer hospital.
He was then released into the care of a close relative following his initial court appearance, and was referred to Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital for a full assessment of his mental state, News24 reports.
The case was postponed to 13 April.
Lucas has since expressed his deep grief as he mourns the loss of his relatives by saying “My heart is in pieces”, followed by “what am I supposed to do” and “How can this happen”. He also took to Facebook and said: “I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest”.
The funeral details for Lucas’ relatives were shared online and will take place on Saturday, 19 March in Kuilsriver. The funeral will strictly be open for friends and family.
