Motorists travelling in the Northern Suburbs are advised that the N1 outbound between the Durban Road off-ramp and the R300 will be closed over the weekend for road surface rehabilitation. The N1 inbound will be closed on March 14 to 15 for rehabilitation as well.

The Department of Transport and Public Works released a statement on social media with details of the closure.

“The N1 (TR9/1) Outbound will be closed between the Durban Road Outbound Off-Ramp and the R300 in order to conduct road surface rehabilitation from Friday, March 1 2019 (7pm) to Monday, March 4 2019 (5am).”

The department has provided a map of alternative routes for motorists to take when travelling to the surrounding areas.

An alternative route is highlighted in pink.

N1 Inbound road closure 

Construction and improvements will continue on the N1 (TR9/1) inbound with closures between the R300 interchange and the Durban Road Inbound on-ramp from March 15 at 7pm until March 18 at 5am.

An alternative route can be used on this road during the road rehabilitation works.

A second route which can be used during the road construction to travel through the area is shown in pink.

Night work will occur as road surface rehabilitation will be carried out on the N1 (TR9/9) main carriageways.

“Noise disturbances may be experienced between 7pm and 5am.”

Night work will be conducted on Plattekloof to Jip De Jager and Durban Road to Old Oak. The work is expected to continue until March 22 on Durban Road to Old Oak.
