The National Lottery has come under fire for the PowerBall’s winning numbers drawn on Tuesday [December 1]. In a strange sequence, the winning PowerBall numbers were: 05, 06, 07, 08, 09 – PB 10.

The jackpot prize for the PowerBall draw was R114 million. The National Lottery announced that 20 winners, who selected the 5 correct numbers and the PowerBall number, will each walk away with R5 688 468.21.

On the SA Lottery website, under the “How to choose your numbers” section, it says: “Six consecutive numbers have never been drawn in any state or international Lotto game. I have all the drawing results for more than 180 state and international Lotto games, going back more than fifty years! Even five consecutive numbers is a very rare occurrence that, in most Lotto games, has never happened once.”

As expected, #LOTTO is trending on Twitter and social media users are calling out the National Lottery.
