Netflix South Africa has been gaining popularity, now the trendy movie and series streaming service has gone local with new rand pricing as well as plans to expand their local offering.

New rand pricing are expected to kick in for Netflix SA user this Tuesday, the pricing packages will now range from:

– Basic: R99 per month

– Standard: R139 per month

– Premium: R169 per month

“Netflix, in its ongoing efforts to localise its offering for the South African market, will be billing South African subscribers in rands from Tuesday, 28 August 2018,” Netflix told My Broadband.

Before this pricing adjustment, local subscriber have paid their monthly subscriptions in a dollar-based fee, which fluctuated when converted to rands due to exchange rates, however, no more fluctuations will affect monthly payments now.

On top of this fee shift, Netflix SA has also expressed an interest in increasing their library to include more locally-developed content that South Africans can look forward to.
