Locals were heartbroken at the news that popular party spot Aces’n’Spades closed its doors in August. However, a new bar is opening up in this famed location, and promises to be a haven for rock’n’roll enthusiasts.

An exciting new rock n roll bar & music venue called Open Sesame is opening in Cape Town this December. The laid-back bar is headed by Hugo Du Rand and patrons can expect a classic rock playlist, reasonable prices, great service and cleanliness.

Rock enthusiasts will find a new home at Open Sesame in a simple, classy and friendly atmosphere.

Hugo learned the bar trade from his father and spent his 20s traveling and working all over the world. He has lived and worked all over Africa, with some years also spent in the UAE, Abu Dhabi and even New Zealand.

Opening this bar fulfills Hugo’s vision of doing something that he really enjoys and showcasing his passion for music. He believes that rock music is one of the last true artforms and wants to spend his time keeping it preserved and treasured.

The bar promises to play hand-picked rock music every minute that it’s open. One of Open Sesame’s biggest goals is to create a platform for young and upcoming artists to perform and showcase their talent. The bar will host regular open mic nights as well as more established live artists and gig nights.

The core focus will be on good music and drinks, but a classic pizza menu will also be available. The décor and atmosphere will be unpretentious, comfortable and welcoming.

Open Sesame will be open from December 1 and promises to be a new hangout for music enthusiasts and socialites alike. Bring your friends, your dancing shoes and your appetite to 62 Hout Street, Cape Town.

Opening Hours:

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: 3pm – 2am. Friday & Saturday: 1pm – 2am
