An eight-year-old football prodigy from Ocean View has landed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to further her education and footballing career through a full sponsorship from the Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Programme, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Atarah Goodheart, a rising star in local youth football, has been selected to join the prestigious programme while continuing her formal education at Generation Schools Imhoff. Recognised not only for her skill on the pitch but also for her strong academic performance, Atarah is the only girl in her club’s under-8 A-team and is regularly part of the starting line-up.
The sponsorship was made possible through Kensio House Therapeutic Academy, an institution dedicated to creating tailored educational opportunities for learners. Kensio House, along with the support of its Director and former Proteas cricketer Steven Palframan, and co-founders Siobhan Laubscher and Kendal Pietersen, played a pivotal role in securing this life-changing opportunity for Atarah.
‘Atarah’s passion and determination are clear, and I believe strongly in the importance of creating meaningful pathways for young people to succeed,’ said Palframan. ‘It’s a privilege to be part of her journey.’

The Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Programme, operating in South Africa under the leadership of Jevron Epstein, aims to provide world-class coaching, mentorship, and academic support to talented young athletes regardless of their background.
‘This is not only about talent, but about recognising potential and making sure no young person is left behind due to their circumstances,’ Epstein said. ‘Atarah has shown immense promise and resilience, and we are proud to welcome her into the programme.’
Atarah’s placement was officially announced during a youth, education and sport day hosted by Generation Schools at the end of July. The event featured appearances by local sports legends and included a celebrity touch rugby match sponsored by GAC Motors and NutriTech. Proceeds from the event, along with Kensio House’s contribution, funded the full sponsorship.
Now set to begin a new chapter at Generation Schools Imhoff, Atarah will benefit from a nurturing environment focused on academic excellence and elite sports development, offering her a platform to reach her full potential and inspire other young girls across South Africa.
