Would you adopt a one-eyed dog? Earlier today, the Animal Welfare Society of SA found Wink, a beautiful tan-coloured Africanis Cross dog with a gentle temperament wandering the busy streets of Delft.

Wink had been in the wars and sustained a traumatic eye injury (most probably from a blow with a heavy blunt object) that caused his left eyeball to pop out of its socket.
“Our presence quickly attracted an inquisitive crowd who were quick to point out his neglectful owner who claimed to have tried to get help for Wink. After some robust discussion, she agreed to surrender him to us”, says the Animal Welfare Society of SA.
Wink and his rescuers arrived back at base just before 8am this morning and after allowing him to settle into his kennel and hungrily devour a few bowls of food, he underwent a comprehensive examination where he was given a great prognosis, despite having to lose an eye.
“Our hope for Wink who once his eye is removed will be redefined as a special needs dog is that someone equally special will welcome him into their heart and home where he can live the rest of his life happy and content”, the Animal Welfare Society of SA adds.
If you are that special someone then please call the Animal Care Centre Supervisor Lawrence Nkotha on 021 692 2626 or email [email protected].
