Two girls from Tafelsig were involved in a road accident on Wednesday, November 18.

One of the girls is in critical condition and the other has died from her injuries. The pair were allegedly hanging from a bread truck before jumping off, and then were struck by an oncoming lorry, according to journalist Julian Jansen.

Captain FC Van Wyk spoke to Cape Town Etc and said: “The circumstances surrounding the death of a 12 year old girl this afternoon at about 14:00 on the corners of Paulsberg and Kilimanjaro street Tafelsig Mitchell’s Plain is under investigation by Mitchell’s Plain SAPS.

“According to reports the two girls were hanging on a truck when they fell off the truck. The 13 year old girl sustained head injuries and is in a stable condition in a nearby medical facility.

“A Culpable Homicide case was opened for investigation.”
