A 47-year-old man was shot and killed and four others were wounded during a brazen shooting at the Siyahlala informal settlement in Nyanga on Monday evening, 16 June 2025, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, police responded to a complaint at around 5pm and discovered multiple victims at the scene, all suffering from gunshot wounds.
The 47-year-old was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. The four other victims, aged between 30 and 40, were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that unknown gunmen entered a property in the area, apparently searching for someone, before opening fire and fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made yet.
‘Nyanga detectives are investigating a murder and four counts of attempted murder,’ said Twigg.
Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or to use the MySAPS mobile app. Tip-offs may be submitted anonymously.
