On Friday morning, The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) sentenced former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius to 13 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

Pistorius was initially sentenced for five years for culpable homicide in 2014 by North Gauteng High Court Judge Thokozile Masipa. Having only served 10 months of the five-year sentence in prison, he was released and put under house arrest. Following an appeal by the State, Pistorius’ initial six-year prison sentence has been increased.
