Two Western Cape parents, and the mother’s boyfriend, have been apprehended for kidnapping their own children. The parents, along with the mother’s boyfriend, allegedly attacked their children’s grandfather, as the minors are in his care.

According to reports by police, all three suspects have been charged with kidnapping and pointing a firearm.

The two little girls, aged four and six, were in Cape Town with their grandparents to attend a funeral. They live in the Northern Cape, and have been in the care of their grandparents since they were babies as their parents are both drug addicts.

Their grandfather was attacked by the parents with a brick on the evening of Saturday, October 31. The little girls were kidnapped in a car by their parents and their mother’s boyfriend.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, the children are back with their grandparents. “Three suspects, aged 27 and 37, were arrested on charges of kidnapping and pointing a firearm,” she said. “They will appear in court once they are charged.”
