The City of Cape Town advised that electricity supply could be reinstated at any point during the maintenance period, cautioning customers to regard all electrical installations as live throughout the interruption. Notably, extended outages may occur due to loadshedding, and maintenance could be delayed in response to elevated loadshedding stages.
Residents are advised to turn off appliances as a safety measure to prevent damage from power surges when power is restored. The municipality extends apologies for any inconvenience caused and expresses gratitude for residents’ cooperation and understanding.
Furthermore, the City of Cape Town has announced critical electricity upgrades in Newlands and neighbouring areas. These upgrades, conducted by the Electricity Generation and Distribution Department, will span five days, from 21 May to 4 June. The enhancements to the Newlands Main Substation are expected to impact residents in certain parts of Newlands and its vicinity. Due to the intricate nature of the infrastructure work, interruptions in supply are anticipated, with restoration times possibly delayed by a few hours. The municipality assures swift completion of all upgrades within the communicated timeframe.
