A suspected house robbery turned deadly in Better Life, Philippi East, leaving a 6-year-old boy dead and two others wounded. Police are investigating whether the attack is linked to a previous shooting in the same area, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to officials, victims include a 24-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and the deceased child. The two older victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the young boy died at the scene. Authorities suspect the shooting was tied to a robbery attempt but have not confirmed a motive.
This incident follows another violent attack in Philippi East on June 15, where three men were killed and one injured. Police have not established a connection between the two cases but are exploring all possibilities.
The South African Police Service has called on the public to assist with any information related to the shooting. Witnesses can contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or submit anonymous tips via the MySAPS mobile app.
While no arrests have been made yet, law enforcement officials are intensifying efforts to track down the suspects. The community remains on edge as violence continues to plague the area.
