The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be doing planned work in the identified areas, which will result in water supply disruption during the upcoming week, reports Cape {town} Etc.
Residents of affected areas are advised to store enough water in advance, as a precautionary measure. The water should be stored in clean and sealed containers.
In the Thornton area the water supply will be shut off from 9am until 6pm on Wednesday, 18 December 2024. This will allow the maintenance team to safely replace the 500mm diameter bulk water meter in Viking Way, Epping.
Zero-pressure tests (ZPT) and conditional assessments will be done on the water supply network in the areas listed below.
On Tuesday, 17 December 2024, from 10am until 4pm, these tests will be conducted in the areas of Blackheath Industrial, Gaylee, Austinville and Happy Valley.
In affected areas, some residents may experience low water pressure, and some may have no water coming out of their taps during the testing period. The City has advised that it is not possible to predict which exact areas or streets will experience disruptions.
