Celebrating the completion of school is a tradition that can be seen all around the world. It’s a rite of passage, a transition where matriculants enter adulthood, says the Plett Rage website after organisers announced that the event will go forth despite the immediate cancellation of the Ballito event.
According to festival organisers, they have been placed in a situation where they cannot cancel the event as more than 800 ‘Ragers’ are expected to attend this year’s festival after a one-year hiatus.
Founder Ronen Klugman said that they have taken up the decision to continue with the event because festivalgoers are going to flock to Plettenberg Bay whether we like it or not, EWN reports. The decision to go forth with the event comes after the organisers of the Ballito Rage festival took up the decision to cancel the remainder of the event after several people tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement released by festival organisers on Wednesday, December 1, the festival opened for the first time on Tuesday, November 30 with extraordinary COVID-19 protocols in place, including mandatory vaccinations for all staff and guests and pre-arrival tests. However, 32 guests and 4 staff tested positive for COVID-19, which forced the organiser’s hand to cancel the event a day after it started.
Klugman went on to say that all attendees will be required to be fully vaccinated and will need to follow strict rules for the duration of the event as they will be handed an IRF identification armband with a chip on it that will be scanned.
