Authorities are appealing to the public for any information on a Wellington native who has been missing for more than 10 days. Henny van der Berg went missing when he left home to fetch his 11-year-old daughter from school.

According to police, it is believed his daughter was with him at the time of his disappearance.

“He took the child from school more than 10 days ago and never returned home,” Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, a South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson, said in a statement. “The Wellington Children’s Court has issued a court order for Meila to be removed from her father’s care and to be accommodated for in a place of safety.”

“Please be advised that Mr van der Berg is still being sought with his daughter, it is worth noting that the daughter is not missing but sought as there is a court order,” Rwexana adds.

The missing man was last seen in Paarl driving a blue Jeep Cherokee SUV, with “a possible registration number VRO 3TG GP”, says Rwexana.

SAPS has asked that anyone who has any information about Van der Berg’s whereabouts to contact Wellington police at 021 864 8440.
