Police divers have bolstered their search party as they continue to look for the other three missing young men whose bodies were allegedly dumped into a river that runs behind the COVID-19 informal settlement in Driftsands.
According to a police statement, 11 police divers searched in the water on Tuesday while the SAPS rescue dog from the Southern Cape scoured the river banks at the informal settlement.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says it has been 17 days since the four young men were reported missing to police by their relatives and only the body of 15-year-old Asonele Wanga was retrieved from the water.
“The search will resume on Wednesday morning with plans to remove debris in the water that is impeding search efforts,” Potelwa said.
Meanwhile, police in Cape Town are following up on leads, surrounding the death of a Cape Town School teacher that was gunned down on Tuesday. The 53-year-old, Thulani Manqoyi, was shot dead while sitting in his vehicle at the Heinz Park Primary School grounds.
