Detectives of the SAPS Anti-Gang Unit have launched a double murder investigation after two teenage brothers were shot and killed in Lavender Hill on Saturday morning.

According to police reports, the two brothers aged 14 and 17 were walking in St Bernard Street at around 6:30am when unknown gunmen opened fire.
‘Both victims suffered gunshots to their heads,’ confirmed police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa. ‘Provincial Anti-Gang Unit members with support from Steenberg police and other police contingents are following leads in search of the perpetrators.’
Potelwa added that additional police officials have been deployed to ensure the area is safe and to assist in the search for the suspects.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, the alleged leader of the DK was shot in the early hours of the morning in Lansry Road, Hanover Park.
