Update | 28 April:
Two suspects have been arrested following the armed robbery of an e-hailing driver in Parkwood, in a case that initially saw no immediate arrests, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The ‘uber criminals’, Maison and Tyron, who were identified shortly after video footage of the robbery went viral on social media platforms, are set to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court once they have been charged, police confirmed.
A video, along with a photograph of the two suspects, aged 20 and 28, has since been revealed on social media, showing the suspects being arrested as commotion from members of the community can be heard in the background.
Another video, showing one of the suspects being beaten up by a group of community members, has also been circulating.

Grassy Park police have opened a robbery with firearm case following an incident involving an e-hailing driver robbery in Parkwood on Saturday, 25 April 2026, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Western Cape SAPS media liaison Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the incident took place at about 8:47pm in Pers Road after the driver responded to a pickup request.
‘Upon arrival at the mentioned address, two unknown males got into the vehicle,’ Twigg said. He added that ‘the one male took out a firearm and they robbed the victim before fleeing the scene.’
Police confirmed that the driver was robbed of personal belongings and an undisclosed amount of cash. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Although community news groups reported that the suspects were allegedly arrested, SAPS told Cape {town} Etc that no arrests have been made.

Public reaction circulated on local community platforms shortly after the incident. One post from Cape Flats Stories shared concern and identified individuals allegedly linked to the area, urging awareness within the community.
Comments on the post reflected mixed responses, including calls for caution from residents and messages of relief that the driver was unharmed. One user wrote, ‘Thank you lord the driver is unharmed,’ while another added that the driver was ‘safe by his family.’

Police have urged the public to assist with any information. ‘Anyone with any information about this incident can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously,’ Twigg said.
