Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of 62-year-old Stefan Smit, who was shot and killed on his Stellenbosch wine estate in 2019.

The investigation surrounding the incident led police to the residences of three suspects in the early hours of Thursday morning [December 10].

The suspects were apprehended in Bellville South, Milnerton and Wynberg.

Two male suspects aged 50 and 56, respectively, will each face a murder charge when they make their court appearances in Stellenbosch on Friday, December 11.

The third suspect, a 54-year-old woman, fled when authorities made their way to her home. Police are currently still searching for her.

Stefan Smit was shot and killed in front of his wife and a family friend when the armed suspects broke and entered their home in Stellenbosch in 2019.
