The search is on for a young woman, after discovering an foetus in a hospital bathroom on Monday, July 27. Police are searching for the unknown woman who originally visited the hospital for “abdominal pains”.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Mihlali Majikela the woman visited a hospital in Candlewood Street, Bonteheuwel at roughly 6.45am. She had entered the bathroom before leaving the building.

“The patient visited a bathroom for some time and left the building afterwards. Later that morning, a foetus was found by personnel members inside the trauma bathroom,” Majikela told Sowetan Live.

The woman is described as being between the age of 20 and 25, with short black hair. She was last seen wearing beige or brown shorts paired with long socks and trainers.

Anyone with information regarding the woman is being asked to help identify her by contacting investigating officer, Warrant Officer Rochelle Van Schalkwyk  on 082-312-7221, or Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi on 082-302-8437.
