A targeted police operation guided by intelligence in Kewtown, Athlone led to the arrest of a 40-year–old man, as officers found drugs and what appears to be money from illegal activities during a search that took place over the weekend, reports Cape (town}Etc.
The operation, which was conducted on Saturday, 21 March, saw members attached to Operation Lockdown III move swiftly to verify intelligence suggesting firearms and narcotics were being stored at the property.
Police found 196 mandrax tablets and two sachets of tik at the location. They also seized a sum of money that was thought to be linked to illegal drug activities.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and later detained at Athlone police station.
The accused is expected to appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 March, facing charges linked to dealing in drugs.
