The Western Cape Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Unit, together with brand protectors, executed a significant operation targeting businesses along Durban Road and the Bellville Station Shopping Centre on Tuesday, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The operation, which spanned a broad spectrum of suspected establishments, resulted in an impressive seizure of goods purportedly valued at a staggering R115 million.

According to Police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala, a total of 35 business premises were meticulously searched, leading to the confiscation of various clothing items, accessories, and perfumes.
‘The estimated value of the seized items is R115 000 000.00. This seizure is a major step in disrupting the flow of illicit goods, further actions are expected as investigations continue,’ Gwala reported.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) management in the Western Cape has voiced strong condemnation against the illicit trade, emphasising that such activities not only infringe on the law but also jeopardise the economic landscape.
‘It is a blatant disregard for the law, and our members will not hesitate to act against those who seek to profit from it,’ Gwala added.
