The Provincial Detectives Narcotic Unit uncovered a cannabis lab operating in Ottery containing plants worth over R82 000.

In an intelligence-driven operation, the Provincial Detectives Narcotic Unit descended upon a business park in Ferndale Drive, Ottery on Tuesday [October 13]. Upon conducting a search, the members, with the assistance of Cape Town Flying Squad, uncovered a hydroponic cannabis laboratory comprising of drying equipment and various plants valued at around R82 200.

“Four cooling units transformed into hot houses, fully equipped with plants in various stages of cultivation, were found. The equipment, the plants and a substantial amount of dried cannabis were confiscated,” said SAPS representative Colonel Andrè Traut.

“Two suspects aged 33 and 36 were arrested on charges of drug trafficking and are due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court on Thursday.”
