A freak accident that took place today [March 20] has left the Cape Town Harbour temporarily closed.

According to an alert by the 1Second CPT-Daily Safety and Security Alerts page, a crane crashed into a truck at midday. The port was forced to closed as a result.

There is no further information on how the incident transpired or whether it is related to a malfunction on the crane’s part or not, but the driver of the vehicle has passed away due to severe injures.

Cape Town Etc extends its condolences to the family of the deceased truck driver.
